Trailblazer Award

On the 17th May 2012 I was thrilled to be presented with the Trailblazer Award by The Campaign for Drawing for the most innovative “Big Draw” event of 2011. The ceremony was held at the Courtauld Insitute, London. The awards were presided over by the inspirational director of the Campaign for Drawing, Sue Grayson Ford and presented by Charles Orr RA MBE.

My Big Draw event, entitled “The Octopus’s Garden”, took place at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill. This image (by Nigel Green) shows the “Ultraviolet Reef” activity, using fluorescent lighting, paper and highlighter pens to create a shimmering underwater environment. This was one of 10 different collaborative drawing installations I designed for the public spaces around the building. For more information see the Big Draw page on my site.

Huge thanks to the front of house and technical staff at the DLWP, who helped make all of this possible, as well as to the wonderful volunteers who manned the activity stations.
